Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of Scout, a private SMS-based recommendation memory and sharing service. By texting the Scout number, you agree to these terms.

1. What Scout Is

Scout is a private service that allows opted-in users to save recommendations and retrieve them via SMS. Scout is currently in a limited private test and is available by invitation only. Access may be revoked at any time at the operator's discretion.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Scout. By using Scout you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. How You Opt In

You opt in to Scout by texting the Scout number after receiving an invitation from an existing Scout user or the Scout operator. By initiating contact with the Scout number, you consent to receive SMS responses from Scout. Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply.

4. How to Opt Out

You may opt out of Scout at any time by replying STOP to any Scout message. After opting out, you will receive no further messages from Scout. You may request deletion of your data at any time — see our Privacy Policy for details.

5. Your Recommendations

You are responsible for the recommendations you submit to Scout. By logging a recommendation, you confirm that:

Scout is provided as-is during this private test period. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy of recommendations, the availability of the service, or the fitness of Scout for any particular purpose. Recommendations are personal opinions from real people and should be evaluated accordingly.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scout and its operators are not liable for any damages arising from your use of Scout, including reliance on any recommendation surfaced by the service.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify active users via SMS before they take effect. Continued use of Scout after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
